Sculpture and Installation > The Pollinator Pavillion, 2020
A Collaboration with Mark Dion at The Thomas Cole Historic Site in Catskill, NY. On View now through November 2021.
The interactive architectural sculpture, sited in the open space of the Thomas Cole yard, takes the form of an elaborate decorative gazebo. Visitors to the piece are able to enter and linger in the gazebo’s lush interior, designed to attract birds and insect pollinators.
The Pollinator Pavilion is a work focused on delight and wonder. It invites viewers to slow down and allow the process of pollination and feeding to be observed with reverence and joy. The birds, butterflies and other insects which visit the pavilion’s flowers and feeders rewards patient and calm viewers with an extraordinary encounter.
